SAFETY TIPS-HEAD PROTECTION

Most head injuries can be prevented by wearing a hard hat. Hard hats provide protection against falling or fly objects, head bumps, and electricity.

1.Check label inside hat to determine class:
Class A—Primarily impact protection for the industrial environment, water resistant, limited voltage resistance, and slow to burn

Class B—Contains no metal parts, high voltage resistance, water resistant, and slow to burn

Class C—Usually made of aluminum, no voltage protection, for the manufacturing environment

Class D—Used by firefighters, fire resistant, and won’t conduct electricity

1.Don’t abuse the hat.
2.Inspect hat daily for wear such as dents and cracks.
3.Replace damaged hats immediately.
4.Clean hat occasionally with soapy water.
5.Store hat away from the sun and high heat.
6.Wear the hard hat properly, no backward hats.
7.Don’t wear another hat under a hard hat–it won’t fit properly–get a special lining.
