FY12 Site EHS Goals
The following EHS goals for fiscal 2011 represent the minimum requirement; segment or business unit management may require additional or more stringent goals. They apply to manufacturing, distribution, technology, and labs. BU’s should apply relevant EHS goals to sales, field service operations, and other office buildings.
Goal 1: Improvement in Key Safety Metrics

*If a site’s performance in FY10 was worse than its performance in FY09, then the site shall, at a minimum, carry the FY10 goal forward as the FY11 goal. BU EHS Coordinators and BU management may use their discretion in adjusting these goals for sites that have achieved and are maintaining excellence in safety performance (TRIR 0.00 – FY10 TE average).
• Final results for FY10 will be published by October 15, 2010.
• Participants in the FY11 “Safety Focus Program” will be selected by October 15, 2010 and notified by their BU EHS Coordinator.
Goal 2: Ergonomics
Each site must select one of the following goals, establish a baseline at the start of FY11, and measure and report progress toward the goal.
• Option 1: Reduce all high and medium risk tasks/workstations to low.
• Option 2: Reduce the location’s total ergonomics risk score by 20%. The total score is the sum of all risk scores for all tasks and workstations in the plant as of September 27, 2010.
• Option 3: Sites that have achieved excellence in ergo risk reduction and will no longer benefit from Options 1 or 2, may work with their BU EHS Coordinator in developing special ergo projects and goals.
Goal 3: Health & Safety Framework – New BU Level Goal
The Health & Safety Framework is institutionalized in the TE safety program and no longer requires an annual goal for the sites.
The BU shall:
• Ensure the Framework is continuously and actively used at each site.
• Ensure verification audits are conducted at all sites as per the EHS compliance audit schedule at a minimum.
• Assist sites with developing plans and review progress as necessary to ensure continuous improvement in site safety management.
Goal 4: Employee Engagement in Safety
With the assistance and oversight of BU management, each site will implement a measurable program that ensures production-level employees, at a minimum, are engaged in the safety program. Sites and BU’s are free to implement programs of their choosing as long as they meet the following requirements:
• A documented written program complete with objectives and training;
• A method to actively involve peer-to-peer identification and review of at risk and safe behaviors;
• A method that requires frequent assessment and periodic management audit.
• A means to determine and communicate success or failure.
If site management and BU EHS management agree that a site is not ready for direct peer-to-peer engagement then they can shift to supervisor-to-employee engagement for FY11. There should be an understanding that site management will work throughout the year to improve conditions such that they are conducive to peer-to-peer interaction in FY12 and beyond.
Goal 5: Environmental Metrics and Reduction Goals
• Site Level - Each site must submit monthly environmental metrics data
• BU Level - Measured at the BU level and normalized for production, each BU must achieve a 10% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, energy usage (electricity and fuels), water usage, wastewater generation, and waste generation by 2012. |
